1. Why is MissTress Hair Extensions a great choice?
MissTress Hair Extensions are made from a weft of hair approximately 12″ wide that has 8 tiered wefts all secured together in a lace enclosure. Our custom tiered “Slip” is designed to ensure you have a natural fitted extension without bumps or bulky seams. The tiered weft provides you fitted extension that lays flat underneath the crown of your head just beneath your occipital bone. The lace enclosure keeps this extension lightweight and cool, providing comfort and security in every fit. All MissTress Slip extensions come with 2 toupee clips built in. We chose to include these clips for extra security if needed for higher impact activities such as dancing, running, biking or fitness. It is your discretion if you would like to use them or not. If you do not desire to use the toupee clips, then just keep them in their closed position.
2. How do i brush my MissTress Hair Extensions?
It is recommended that you brush your extensions prior to wearing them and before storing them. The Wet Brush which has very soft and gentle bristles works great with these extensions in or out of the head. We recommend to start brushing from the ends and work your way up to the top. This method helps to loosen and remove any tangles or knots without tugging them down the hair shaft, thus eliminating harsh tugging and unwanted shedding.
3. How do i wash my MissTress Hair Extensions?
MissTress Hair Extensions should be washed every 10-20 wears or when there is too much build up of products. We recommend gently washing (no scrubbing or rubbing) with a gentle moisturizing shampoo, and conditioner in cool water. A deep conditioner left in for 10-15 minutes gives great moisturizing benefits as well. It is recommended when combing wet hair to use a detangling solution or leave in conditioner for easier combing and moisturizing benefits.
4. How to choose my perfect shade?
Getting the right color to suit your hair is the most important part of selecting your MissTress Hair Extensions. That’s why we chose to carry the 12 most popular colors that are being used today. When selecting the extensions, it may be impossible to exactly match your current hair color. Your hair may not be the exact same color as the range of colors we offer, or your hair may have different shades throughout. Read below on the best approach on matching your hair either slightly lighter or darker then your then your current shade to achieve the most natural look.
Since most of us have highlights, multi dimensional colors or ombre color, your hair may not be the same consistent color throughout your head. This method will help you match your MissTress Hair Extensions to your current color. Match the hair extension to the area of your head you are placing the hair extensions in. For example, for the Slip style hair extensions, match the hair color between the top of your ears to the bottom of your current hair. Not the very top (crown) area of your head unless you’re purchasing a product for the top of your head. If your hair color starts light at the root and gradually get darker toward the midshaft to ends then choose the extension color that matches your midshaft to ends color. The same concept goes for hair that is darker at the root and gradually gets lighter at the bottom, also known as ombre color, then choose the extension color that matches the lighter midshaft (by your ears) to the ends of your hair color.
5. How do i style my MissTress Extensions?
Styling your Miss Tress Slip is very easy. We recommend hanging your MissTress Slip on a pant hanger and hanging it eye level. This way you have both hands free for blow-drying and styling. When using heated elements such as a curling wand or flat iron, we recommend using a medium heat rather then high, since this hair responds very well to heated tools. Treating your extensions with care will maintain the integrity, and longevity of your extensions as well. You can use any styling aids such as spray gels, mousse or hairspray. We also recommend using argan type silicone oils to finish off your look with a little extra shine and bounce!
6. Can i color my MissTress Hair Extensions?
If you cannot find the perfect color and you find it necessary to color the extension for an exact match, we recommend getting a color that matches closest to your current shade (using the technique mentioned above) but one shade lighter. This way you can use a semi permanent color, gloss or colored shampoo to deposit a deeper shade to match your current hair color. If using a semi permanent color (we recommend an ammonia free, deposit only color with no more then 10 volume peroxide) We do not recommend lifting the hair color (going lighter) and NEVER bleach your MissTress Hair Extensions.
7. How do i care for and store my MissTress Hair Extensions?
To get the most out of your MissTress Hair Extensions they should be stored properly. The hair should be completely dry and brushed free of any / all tangles. Lay them flat in a fabric bag, tupperware, shoebox or any other container. They should be stored away from direct sunlight, preferably in a dark place, like a closet or drawer.
8. How do i install my MissTress Hair Extensions?
Installation and removal is simple. Just place your MissTress Slip on top of your head anywhere from 1″ – 3″ from the front hairline. Secure by pushing in a downward motion around the back of your head so the weft is sitting securely below your occipital bone and feels snug all the way around. Secure the stretchy wonder wire with several double knots so your confident that your extension will stay safely in place.
(make sure the toupee clips are in their closed position when installing) When your MissTress Extension is comfortably in place simply pull out 1/4 – 1/2 of your natural hair over the slip style extension. This will camouflage the extension perfectly, placing it beneath your natural hair.
All MissTress slip style extensions come with 2 toupee clips built in. We chose to include these clips for extra security if needed for higher impact activities such as dancing, running, biking or fitness. It is your discretion if you would like to use them or not. To use the clips, after installing your halo style extension, pop open one clip at a time and scoop a little bit of your natural hair inside and then pop it closed in the opposite direction.
All you have to do is grab the extensions from the back of your head and gently pull upwards to the top of your head and the extension will come right off!
*** remember, if using the toupee clips, you must release them open first before removing the extension.
